Frequently Asked Questions

  • There is no definitive answer to this question. Some may find relief in a short-term therapy model, which typically lasts around 8-12 sessions, while others may benefit from long-term therapy. Short-term therapy can be beneficial for individuals dealing with acute stress or recent life changes. Long-term therapy is suitable for individuals dealing with deep-rooted issues, complex trauma, chronic mental health conditions, or those seeking personal growth and self-discovery.

  • I get it - finding the right therapist may seem difficult. But here’s the thing: I’ve been there too. That’s why I’m committed to making therapy a positive and affirming experience for you. The treatment approach is one factor to consider. Your specific needs and preferences will help determine the most effective approach. Therapy is most effective when there is a great relationship between the client and therapist. This all boils down to chemistry. Characteristics such as age, gender, personality and professional experience will help you determine fit. I offer a free 15-minute consultation to see if we would be a good fit. Not everyone is a good fit and that’s okay. If it is determined that it is not a great fit, I am happy to provide a referral that may better suit your needs.

  • Since the scheduling of an appointment involves the reservation of time set aside especially for you, a 24 hours notice is required for rescheduling or cancellation. Failure to provide the required notice may result in a $50 cancellation fee. Each client is granted a one-time courtesy fee waiver for their first late cancellation. Subsequent late cancellations will be subject to the $50 late cancellation fee. Please note that there may be certain circumstances where the cancellation fee can be waived. If there are extenuating circumstances that prevent you from providing the required notice, you must provide a notice as soon as possible to discuss your situation and determine if a waiver is appropriate.

  • I have a self-pay rate for those who are uninsured and would still like to engage in therapy. Self-pay rates are designed to provide accessible mental health services to those who may not have insurance coverage. If you are uninsured and may have financial constraints, I offer a very limited number of spots for a sliding fee scale. The sliding fee scale is a pricing structure based on income. This means that the fee for therapy sessions is adjusted according to your financial situation, ensuring that you can still receive the support you need without facing significant financial burden.

  • If you prefer not to use your insurance benefits you can pay the self-pay rate. While insurance can be a valuable resource for many, some may opt for self-pay due to concerns about privacy or the desire for more control over their treatment. I aim to ensure that individuals have the opportunity to receive the mental health support they need without being restricted by insurance limitations or concerns.

  • Currently I only provide telehealth services. As a therapist, I understand the importance of providing a comfortable and convenient experience for my clients. That’s why I have chosen to exclusively offer telehealth therapy sessions, which have become increasingly popular in recent years. I use a secure, HIPAA-compliant online video platform called Doxy.me to conduct our telehealth sessions. This platform ensures that our conversations remain confidential and secure. You will receive a link and instructions on how to join our session prior to your appointment.

  • Yes! I only offer evening appointments and limited Saturday appointments. Please inquire to see if there’s a time that best suits your needs.
